On Writing Poetry

"This may be an
unanswerable question.
When you've had it in
your mind to write a poem,
how do you go about it?
Do you start with an
idea, an image, a word?
Do you let it write itself?
Do you consciously work at form?"

It's not an unanswerable question, but it's a big question, can't be dispensed with by a flippant response.
